HQX files are encoded versions of BinHex files that are made for Mac computers. It contains data that has been taken from 8-bit and encoded and compressed in to a 7-bit text format. It is generally used for transmitting images and other files as binary so that nothing is lost in transit.
Open HQX File on Windows OS
- Look for an HQX file you need to open in Windows Explorer and double-click on it
- If the file doesn’t open automatically and you see a “Windows can’t open a file” message then you should search for a program which can open HQX file
- If you have a program which can open HQX file installed on your computer then launch that program and select “File” and then “Open” or similar options from its menu to open the HQX file
